Our P5 Class were in charge of assembly this morning and the theme was diversity. Children had been talking to their parents about how they came to be in Belfast and we had a whole range of stories, a few of which we thought we'd share with you. Every city has thousands of stories and these are just a few brief lines from a few children in one class in one school.
Mrs Gamble's class launched Science Week this morning with a super all singing, all dancing assembly full of entertaining tricks and treats to get us in the mood for an action packed week of science and technology related acvtivities. It's going to be a great week with trips, competitions and visitors all aimed at raising the profile of science and technology and helping our children get stuck into some great learning activities!
Alex climbed, Davina biked, swam and ran, Mr T and Mrs Reiman ran the Larne half marathon, but never mind the celebs....on Friday we had the entire school walking the Sport Relief Mile around the school - that'll be seven circuits in case you're wondering! P2 got us all motivated this morning with a cracking assembly about Sport Relief and the contrast in the lives of children here and in the developing world.
There aren't many of us with young (or not so young) chidlren who haven't been touched at some point by the splendid stories of Julia Donaldson and the mix of rhyme, humour and of course wonderful illustrations by Axel Scheffler. This morning Miss Mahon's class treated Julia (or a well informed stunt double) to the old 'This is your Life' treatment and we had an absolute ball trying to guess which of her characters might be about to appear from the wings on the basis of a voice over description.
